Alone with the Archive
A downloadable game
Whether you are a visitor or a caretaker to the archive, you search through it and study each of your finds carefully. From reminiscing with an old photo album dear to someone you love to scrutinizing the contents of a high tech futuristic industrial facility you've just broken into, each item you take out has a story to it. Dazzling, woven, heartfelt, plain. What will you learn here today?
A singleplayer tabletop role-playing game. Requires a journal or similar to take notes, a six-sided die and a deck of 52 playing cards without jokers. A notes app and online randomizers work great too.
Based on the Alone system by Takuma Okada, specifically Alone Among the Shifting Trees from their zine Alone on a Journey.

Just played this with some relaxing music in the background. Got a little confused about the order/mixed up a few times (drawing a card before rolling, namely) but I figured it out! I missed the bit that all the items have significance to you though, so I need to play that again with that in mind. (the mechanic and phrasing(searching for "it") of the "take an item out of storage" system makes more sense now, haha. I'll have to play it properly later, maybe also with a random object generator? And maybe setting since I am not very creative at thinking of archive locations haha. Thank you for sharing this game! :)
Thanks for giving it a go! Interesting to hear about the struggle points and appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment!
